Hedwig

Hedwig is an AI workspace built on Gmail, Outlook and Google Calendar. Mail, calendar, to-dos, documents, datasheets and web pages stand as movable frames on one board, and an agent reads that board, drafts replies, chases invoices and writes a morning brief. Every draft it writes waits in one outbox for your send. Pro costs $20 a month billed yearly after a 3-day trial.

What is Hedwig?

Hedwig is an AI workspace that puts your mail, calendar, tasks and documents on one board as movable frames, with an agent that reads the board the way you do. Built by Hedwig AI, Inc., it sits on top of Gmail, Google Calendar and Outlook rather than replacing them: the same mail, a different surface. Instead of a fixed three-pane client you get an infinite canvas, called the stage, where a mail list, a week calendar, a to-do list, a document, a typed datasheet and even a live web page sit side by side, sized and arranged around whatever the day demands. Nothing is migrated, and disconnecting an account leaves everything exactly where it was.

The frame is the unit of the product. Mail frames hold folders, filters, search, pinned sets and bulk actions. Calendar frames let you drop an email onto a day, stage a whole series of meetings, or import an invite while keeping the right meeting link. To-do frames are board-scoped and link back to the email each task came from. Documents, notes, sticky piles, uploads, reports and team frames fill in the rest, and in the desktop app a browser frame stands a real page beside your work so the agent can read it with you.

Agents are the other half. You open a board and talk to Hedwig in a chat: ask what needs a reply today, tell it to hold Friday and email Pam, or point at a frame and describe the job. Standing agents keep working after you close the tab, running a morning brief, watching new mail, or chasing unpaid invoices every morning at eight and drafting the follow-ups for you to send. Rules turn one sentence into a permanent automation that tags, files, creates tasks, pins frames or writes reports. Voice mode, powered by speech-to-text and text-to-speech, lets you explain the job out loud instead of typing it.

The safety model is deliberately conservative. Every draft the agent writes lands in a single AI outbox and stays there until you press send; there is no other path out, and connected MCP clients have no send tool at all. Anything irreversible is staged for approval. Hedwig is engineered to meet SOC 2 standards, encrypts traffic and email bodies at rest, runs least-privilege production access with an append-only admin audit trail, and its AI providers are contractually barred from training on your data. Teams can request a DPA, and Enterprise adds SSO/SAML, SCIM provisioning and audit-log export. Pricing counts agent turns rather than tokens: Pro includes 200 turns a day across five email accounts, Team 400 a day per seat with shared workspaces.

Hedwig Core Features

✦

Frames on one board

Mail, calendar, to-dos, documents, typed datasheets, notes, uploads, reports and live browser pages stand as resizable frames on an infinite canvas you arrange yourself.

✦

AI outbox

Every reply, follow-up and invoice chase the agent writes lands in a single outbox and cannot send itself; you approve, edit or discard, with undo send and read receipts.

✦

Standing agents

Give Hedwig a job that keeps running after the tab closes, such as a morning brief, a watch on new mail, a scheduled research pass or an invoice chaser drafting follow-ups every morning.

✦

Rules and report frames

One sentence becomes a permanent automation that tags, files, creates tasks, pins frames or stands reports, and report frames do standing work over wired sources.

✦

Calendar frames

Drop an email onto a day, stage a whole series of meetings, import invites and keep the right meeting link, with holds that wait for your apply.

✦

Voice and chat

Talk to Hedwig in a conversation or speak out loud through the voice dock, full-screen voice stage or desktop pill, powered by Deepgram speech-to-text and text-to-speech.

✦

Teams without shared inboxes

Shared workspaces, team frames, team calendars and workload insights let a small team share what it chooses while each person keeps a private inbox.

✦

Bring your own AI and desktop app

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor or any MCP client to the board, or run the native macOS and Windows app with browser frames and one-key summon.

Who is Hedwig for?

Hedwig suits people whose day is decided by their inbox but who are tired of tab-hopping between mail, calendar, notes and an AI chat window. The board metaphor rewards anyone who thinks in projects rather than in one long chronological list. Solo founders and operators. One person running sales, support, invoicing and product has no chief of staff. Standing agents that draft invoice chases and a morning brief are the closest thing to one, and the whole day fits on a single board. Consultants, freelancers and agency owners. Multi-client work means several inboxes and several contexts. Pro allows five email accounts, each frame pinned to an account, plus a standing agent that follows up on unpaid invoices for every client at once. Project and operations managers. Work arrives as mail, turns into tasks, and needs to appear on a calendar and in a status document. Frames keep those four views of the same project beside each other instead of behind four logins. Executive assistants and chiefs of staff. Scheduling is a negotiation across email threads and holds. Dropping an email onto a calendar day, staging a series of meetings and letting the agent draft the confirmations removes most of the copy-paste. Recruiters, sales and partnership teams. Outreach is research plus follow-up. Hedwig's research agents profile people, browser frames read a live page with you, and every outbound draft queues in the outbox for a human read before it leaves. Small teams of two to fifteen. Team frames and shared workspaces put a common calendar, documents and workload insights in front of everyone without handing out shared inbox passwords, which most small companies are quietly doing today. Researchers, students and writers. Documents, datasheets and web sources stand on one board, and the agent can fill a typed table or summarize a stack of reading without leaving the canvas.

Hedwig Pros and Cons

Pros

  • The board genuinely removes tab-switching: mail, calendar, tasks, documents and web pages share one canvas instead of five browser tabs.
  • The outbox model is a real safety design rather than a promise, since the agent structurally cannot send and MCP clients have no send tool at all.
  • It sits on top of Gmail, Outlook and Google Calendar, so nothing migrates and leaving costs nothing but a disconnect.
  • Standing agents and rules turn one-off prompts into recurring work, which is where most of the time savings actually come from.

Cons

  • No free tier: it is a paid product with only a 3-day trial, and a card is required at signup, which is short for evaluating a workflow change.
  • Agent turns are capped at 200 a day on Pro and 400 per seat on Team, and heavy research or standing agents can hit that ceiling.
  • There is no public API or webhooks yet, both listed as planned on the community roadmap, and browser frames require the desktop app.
