What is Botnation AI?
Botnation AI is a French no-code platform for building AI chatbots and conversational voice agents that run on a website, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, SMS and telephone lines. It has been on the market since 2016 and is operated by Uplike SAS from Paris, with the AI engine developed in house rather than rented from a hyperscaler.
The product sits between a visual flow builder and a retrieval-based AI assistant. You design conversation paths on a drag-and-drop canvas, then attach an AI layer that reads your own material — FAQ files, product catalogues, documentation, a website URL or a plain prompt — and answers open questions inside those paths. Botnation calls this hybrid approach deliberate: rule-based scenarios where control matters, generative AI where flexibility matters, and a handover to a human agent through the built-in live chat when neither is enough.
Creation is fast by design. A FAQ bot can be produced from a spreadsheet of questions and answers, a shopping assistant from a product feed, and a first draft from a single URL or prompt, all without writing code. Once the flow is ready, the same bot is published to every channel from one interface: web widget, WordPress, WhatsApp Business, Instagram, Messenger, SMS and a voicebot for inbound calls. Botnation maintains the channel connectors, including Meta's messaging APIs, so you do not apply for each one separately.
Around the conversation, the platform provides the marketing plumbing most chatbot projects end up needing anyway: lead qualification with answers written into a CRM, Stripe payments inside the chat, appointment booking synced to a calendar, Google Sheets logging, Mailchimp and Brevo campaigns, webhooks and Zapier for everything else. Conversion funnels, satisfaction surveys and an analytics view report on where conversations stall.
Two operating models exist. Self-service gives you the builder, templates and documentation for a monthly subscription. Accompanying service, sold separately, puts Botnation's own consultants on scoping, design, optimisation and day-to-day management, which is what larger French accounts such as SNCF TER, Cdiscount and Arkopharma use. A training programme teaches in-house teams to build their own bots.
Hosting and compliance are part of the pitch: data stays on French and European infrastructure, the company states GDPR compliance and independence from Google, Amazon, Meta and Microsoft AI services, and the interface is available in French and English. Reference deployments include a SNCF regional rail assistant handling more than 23 million messages and a franchise assistant answering 80% of franchisee questions without human involvement.
Botnation is therefore less a single-purpose chat widget and more a mid-market conversational suite: broad channel coverage, a real AI layer over your own documents, and optional human help when a project outgrows a do-it-yourself build.

Who is Botnation AI for?
Botnation AI suits organisations that handle a high volume of repetitive conversations and want them answered inside messaging apps rather than by phone or email. The platform is French, the interface, documentation and support are French-first, and the company is based in Paris, so it fits best with francophone and European businesses. Six groups get the most from it. Marketing and growth teams use it to qualify inbound traffic. Instead of a static form, a bot asks the questions that matter, scores the answers and writes the lead into the CRM with the conversation attached. This is the use case Botnation promotes hardest, and the one its templates cover most thoroughly. E-commerce and retail teams deploy the shopping assistant to recommend products, recover abandoned carts and answer delivery questions inside WhatsApp or Instagram, where their customers already spend their time. Customer support and after-sales managers use the FAQ and support templates to deflect the repetitive half of the queue, escalating to live chat only when a human is genuinely needed. Teams that measure deflection rates usually start here. HR and recruitment departments build onboarding and internal helpdesk bots: answering policy questions, guiding new hires through their first weeks and filtering applications, all on the intranet or a messaging channel. Franchise networks and multi-site groups are a strong fit because one bot can serve dozens of locations with local answers, which is exactly what the AutoEasy case describes. Agencies, consultants and freelance developers use the platform to deliver client projects without maintaining their own infrastructure, reselling the subscription with a margin. Small businesses without a developer can start on the free plan, build and test at leisure, and publish only when the flow works. What Botnation is not: a pure developer SDK, a voice-only call-centre replacement, or a tool for teams that need English-first support and US data residency.
